Installation of cleaning of process gases
The process gas purification plant is designed to neutralize gas emissions (organic compounds) from industrial enterprises.
Application area:
- purification of breathing gases at oil product pumping stations;
- purification of gas emissions from chemical plants.
The process gas cleaning unit is a block of devices, the main ones being the reactor and the recuperator, the entrance to the pipe space of which is combined with the reactor to reduce the dimensions of the unit. At high gas consumption above 30,000 nm3/hour, the recuperator is made separately from the reactor (catalytic tablets).
The purification of process gases occurs as follows: the gases supplied to the unit are heated in the inter-tube space of the recuperator to 250°C, from there the gases enter the reactor, where hydrocarbons are oxidized on a platinum catalyst to safe CO2 and H2O. The resulting flue gases immediately enter the tube space of the combined recuperator.
Hydrocarbon oxidation is an exothermic reaction, and therefore the heat released during the reaction is used to heat the initial process gas. The temperature of the flue gases entering the recuperator tube space is maintained in the range of 400-450°C. The temperature of the gases at the outlet of the unit does not exceed 150°C.
Due to the different heat of combustion of hydrocarbons in the gas (VOC) supplied for utilization, the following types of installation schemes were developed to maintain the required temperatures of flue gases at the inlet to the recuperator:
1.Dilution
The concentration of hydrocarbons in gases to be purified is 2-6.5 g/Nm3 (according to C5), and the volumes of such emissions do not exceed
30,000 m3/h. To maintain the required technological mode of the recuperator, such gases are subject to dilution with air.
The use of this scheme is possible for cleaning emissions in the chemical industry, wood processing industry, breathing gases of tanks
Volumes of gas to be purified:
1,000 - 30,000 Nm3/h
Solvent concentration:
2-6.5 g/Nm3
2.Partial regeneration of hydrocarbons (absorption)
The concentration of hydrocarbons in the gases to be purified is high (6.5-30 g/Nm3 according to C5), and the volumes of such emissions exceed
30,000 m3/h. In this case, most of the hydrocarbons are sorbed, and the remaining gases are subject to disposal. This leads to a reduction in the dimensions of the unit, and energy consumption is also reduced.
This scheme can be used to clean emissions during loading/unloading of oil products from tankers.
Volumes of gas to be purified:
30,000-100,000 Nm3/h
Solvent concentration:
6.5-30 g/Nm3
3.Concentration
Highly diluted gases (<<2 g/m3 according to C5) supplied to the plant are concentrated to maintain the temperature of the flue gas outlet from the plant in the range of 400-450°C.
The scheme can be used to clean ventilation air in industrial premises (rubber products, paints and varnishes)
Volumes of gas to be purified:
30,000-100,000 Nm3/h
Solvent concentration:
less than 2 g/Nm3
Advantages of the Process Gas Cleaning Plant
Ultra-low content of precious metals (from 0.01 to 0.02 wt.%);
Low hydraulic resistance of the catalyst layer;
High resistance to catalytic poisons;
Possibility of forming catalyst layers of various geometric shapes.
